Despite having a large amount of their players called up to the Detroit Red Wings roster due to injuries, the 2013 AHL Calder Cup champions have clinched a playoff berth. Unfortunately for Griffins center Mitch Callahan, a puck to the mouth left him a bloody mess. MLive reports that Callahan was struck in the face from a puck shot by teammate Ryan Sproul last night (April 2) late in the first period during a game against the Iowa Wild. Callahan laid on the ice for about 15 seconds before being helped off the ice. Several Griffins were searching the ice to find any missing teeth. It didn't take long for Callahan to post the result of his mouth-versus-puck bout on Twitter. We must worn you, the following image is pretty intense. Are you still here? Good. Ouch pic.twitter.com/8DfILryNg7 — Mitch Callahan (@Mcally15) April 3, 2014 That's pretty gruesome. Callahan, who is the Griffins second-leading scorer, was already missing two front teeth before last night's injury. At least he's taking it well. Grand Rapids head coach Jeff Blashill, on the other hand, was not pleased that Callahan shared his bloody selfie for the world to see. "Shame on me for not having a more direct statement on that," Blashill said, "but I just think we have to be real careful what we put out on social media." The Griffins ended up beating the Wild 6-1 in front of a home crowd at Van Andel Arena.
