The Michigan State football team celebrated the start of 2014 with their first Rose Bowl win since 1988 Monday night (January 1) against Stanford. Despite the Spartans' 24-20 victory over the Cardinal, the team failed miserably at what should have been their easiest task: showering head coach Mark Dantonio with a customary Gatorade bath.
The game was pretty much over after Michigan State's defense stopped Stanford at fourth-and-1 with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter. ESPN cameras showed Spartans defensive ends Denzel Drone and Shilique Calhoun attempting to dump their coach with a celebratory Gatorade bath. However, Dantonio sidestepped the sports drink shower and playfully taunted his players' failed effort.
Even at the verge of victory, Mark Dantonio didn't let his guard down. That's probably a big reason why he's getting a substantial raise.
