The Pistons have fired head coach Maurice Cheeks after just 50 games on the job. President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars says this was a difficult decision for the organization to make but they needed to make a change, Pistons owner Tom Gores said our record does not reflect our talent and we simply need a change. Gores also said he has a lot of hope for this season and expects the players to step up. Cheeks was an assistant coach in Oklahoma City before being hired by the Pistons. The Pistons beat the Nuggets 126-109 Saturday night in Auburn Hills, giving them a 21-29 record.
