The Tigers came up short last night in Minnesota. J.D. Martinez gave Detroit a 3-2 lead with a three-run homer in the ninth. The Twins then plated two runs in the bottom of the inning off Joe Nathan and earned a 4-3 win. Starter Rick Porcello with a no-decision. Porcello worked eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. The Tigers remain 1 1/2-games ahead of Kansas City in the AL Central following the Royals 7-5 loss to the White Sox. Detroit will play again tonight at Target Field with David Price on the mound. Minnesota will counter with Kyle Gibson.
